July 7 Meeting Update

Here is the update from our meeting this past Tuesday, July 7th.

This Saturday (day after tomorrow - July 11), from 9 a.m. - 12 noon, TACT will be running a booth at the Smithfield Farmer's Market, located in downtown historic Smithfield. We will be selling beverages as a fundraiser, as well as offering information about Generation Joshua and our club. Even if you can't make it to help work the booth, feel free to stop by if you like! :-)

As far as community service projects, we are in the process of applying for the "Adopt-a-Highway" program...
There will be a big Homeless Assistance Day in Suffolk on August 15th (Wednesday), and we've been told that volunteers will be needed for the event. It's over a month away, but you may want to mark it on your calendars in advance.
And finally, on Saturday, July 25th, Life Minstries will be holding a "Prayer seige" outside of the Hillcrest Abortion clinic in Norfolk from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Visit www.Lifemin.net for more information.

Many of you have (hopefully) heard of the Parental Rights Amendment movement, but if you haven't, please visit parentalrights.org for more info. Gen J is partnering with the organization to coordinate efforts to reach our elected officials in support of the amendment and to discourage the passing of the U.N. "Rights of the Child" treaty.
SO, the TACT Gen J club is currently scheduling meetings with our U.S. Congressmen and Senators during the August congressional recess. It would be great to have a ton of students show up at these meetings in support of the PRA. STAY TUNED for when we announce the dates of these meetings!
Also, TACT is working on collecting 1,000 signatures locally in support of the PRA and planning on participating in a national "Phone blitz" July 23-25; calling our reps again and reminding them of our views on the matter. :-)

Finally, we have an exciting TACT-sponsored event coming up! A organization called "Restore the Founders' Vision" (www.rtfv.org) has agreed to schedule some of their incredible members (Delegate Bob Marshall, Mr. Tracy Brown and possibly Senator Ken Cuccinelli) to come speak to us at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Suffolk. The date is still TBD, but will likely be either Saturday, August 1 or Tuesday, August 4. We are very excited to bring the RTFV message to the area and hope you will spread the word to all your friends - it will be a night you don't want to miss! Again, more info to come soon.

The end! (for now)
Sincerely,
TACT Secretary
