Club Meeting Tomorrow

Hello TACT! :)
This is a heads-up that our next meeting is tomorrow (Tuesday,March 1st) . I don't think we have a special speaker or event tomorrow, so we will be doing current events trivia (fun!!!:), planning business for the next couple of months (fundraising, trips, etc) and discussing our lobbying from this month. I hope to see most of you at the meeting. Email us if you have anything to add or have any questions.
Thanks!

Richmond Lobbying Trip Part 2

After our time in the General Assembly Building, our next stop was the Capitol.

Scenery on our way.

Lunch Break! :)

Heading toward the Capitol

We got to sit in on a house session!

Some of our members' delegate: Bill Barlow

I think Daniel was really focusing, don't you? :D

The view from where I was sitting in the gallery.

Around 1:00 we regrouped and took a tour of our Capitol which was very interesting and fun.

George Washington, of course. :) And oh, those busts in the recesses of the wall are of the 8 Virginia-born presidents we've had. Lafayette is saving the place in the 9th recess for our next president born in VA. :)

Cool picture! Matthew W. took a few of these.

The Rotunda Room.

A plaster model of the Capitol.

Sitting in the Old House Chamber.

A bronze statue of Robert E. Lee.

Okay. About half-way through our trip, we figured out that there actually was *not* a Parental Rights Amendment being sponsored by a delegate this year. That was very disappointing, because we had been told by a couple different sources that a certain delegate and senator of ours' was behind and sponsoring the resolution. And because the deadline for submitting one had passed. One of the assistants told us that the only way it could be brought up this session was by unanimous consent or if the Governor pushed it through to the House.
So....now what do we do? Well, several members, (our President and Vice President mainly) quickly planned to write a letter to the Governor and hand deliver it to his office. And that's what we did!
Sitting at the cafeteria tables! =D

Everyone one interested, contributed ideas and helped brainstorm.
In around 25 minutes or so, after sitting at a table in the Capitol cafeteria :D we had a letter. The whole club signed their age on our "official document", and Voila'!

Part of the club (the ones with photo i.d.) were allowed to go to the Governor's office....or at least outside of it. They only allowed Daniel to go deliver the letter.
The rest of us went and got the van, picked up the remainder of the club, and headed home.
We were all pretty tired, but this trip was a REALLY good experience and was very fun, as well! Hope you enjoy these pictures, and I'll be keeping you up to date on other events coming up.

Richmond Lobbying Trip Part 1

Hello! Here is the first part of our Richmond Lobbying trip pictures.

In the car.....Our Leadership Corps member was kind enough to drive us up. ;)

Our group getting organized.

We were filming the whole process. From riding in the van to meeting delegates.:)

We couldn't figure out who won the fastest-signature contest: Caleb....

Or Ryan. ;)

Heading to the General Assembly Building.

The General Assembly Building:

One of our first visits to one of our delegates.

Since our members were from different districts, we visited several delegates and senators.

We then split up into teams to drop off letters for all the members of the Committee of Justice, asking them to vote in favor of the Personhood Amendment.

"Tuscano!" ;)

Well, I hope you enjoyed those! I will post the pictures from our visit to the capitol and the house session in the next post. :)
